Clear Aligner FAQs

How do clear aligners work?

Clear aligners gradually straighten your teeth using a series of custom-made, removable trays that apply gentle pressure to move your teeth over time. You switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks as treatment progresses.

Are clear aligners noticeable?

The aligners are made from transparent medical-grade materials, making them very discreet when worn. Most people won’t notice you’re wearing them unless you point them out.

How long does treatment take?

Treatment times vary depending on the complexity of the case, but many patients achieve results within 6–18 months. Your dentist will provide a personalised estimate after assessment.

Are clear aligners painful?

Most patients find clear aligners more comfortable than fixed braces. You may experience mild pressure or tightness for the first few days of each new aligner set — this is normal and a sign the aligners are working.

Do I need to wear them all the time?

For best results, aligners should be worn for 20–22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing.

Can I eat normally with clear aligners?

Yes. Because they are removable, there are no food restrictions. Simply take your aligners out before eating and replace them after brushing.

Will I need retainers after treatment?

Yes. Retainers are essential to maintain your results and prevent teeth from shifting back. Your dentist will recommend the most suitable type for you.
